There  CHA is committed  to promoting opportunities to improve and enhance the quality of life enjoyed by the residents in our communities. Newton county has a number of local agencies and non-profits which serve the community.  CHA's Resident Service staff member is available to help and support connecting residents with those support services.

ARTS & CULTURE

Arts Association in Newton County
The Arts Association encourage youth and adults in the community to participate in the arts both as audience and as artists and to present world-class artists to all the citizens of this area
Scholarships It is the policy of the Arts Association to provide services for any person or family who desires to participate in Arts Association programs, regardless of the ability to pay the standard program fee. Scholarships will be provided on a first come, first served basis and will be based on the Arts Association's ability to provide funding. Scholarships will be awarded based on family income and members in household in compliance with other local non-profits’ scholarship guidelines.  Scholarship applications will be processed in order they are received.  Please allow two weeks for processing.  

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
Covington First United Methodist Food Ministry
The Food Pantry Ministry assists those in need with food every month.
Hours: Monday and Wednesday afternoon,2pm-4pm. 
             3rd Saturday of the month, 10am-12noon.
Located: 2160 Church Street (on Church Street, pass the main church, pass the youth house, the Food Pantry will be on your right)
Food Pantry is available for Newton County residents only

An organization founded by a consortium of area churches that combines resources to help needy residents of Newton County with emergency funds for housing (rent and mortgage) and utilities. Faith Works is funded by 39 local churches, businesses and individuals.

Willing Helpers Medical Clinic

Is an appointment-only charitable (free) medical clinic located in Newton County, Georgia.  Willing Helpers  help people who meet all of the following criteria:

  • Have a chronic illness (see list below)
  • Live in Newton County, GA
  • Are age 18 or older
  • Have no health insurance for doctor visits
  • Have low household income (within 200% of the Federal Poverty Level).
  • A household is defined as yourself, your legally married spouse, and any children in your custody who are under 18.
  • Contact them  for help if you are unsure if you meet the income requirements.
