- The health and safety of our staff, residents and guests is a top priority of the Covington Housing Authority.
- The Maintenance staff works with the residents to ensure that the communities remain in excellent condition for the existing and future resident's enjoyment.
- Residents and their guests are required to abide by all the rules in Covington Housing Authority House Rules Manual Effective: December 1, 2020 as a condition of occupancy and the CHA Pet Policy Jan 2019

What to Do if You Have Maintenance Issues After Office Hours
Office hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm; Friday 8am-12pm
When making an Emergency Maintenance call:
Call (770) 786-7739
- State your name.
- State the head of household’s name.
- State your address.
- State your unit number.
- State your phone number.
- State the issue that you are dealing with. Please give as many details as possible.
What is an Emergency?
- Uncontrollable water leaks
If you have a water leak:
- Turn the water off if possible.
- Turn the water off at the water cutoff valve if possible.
- Call CHA Emergency Maintenance to describe the issue in detail.
- Clean up water to prevent further damage.
If you smell gas:
- Leave the apartment.
- Call 911 to report the smell of gas. Emergency responders will typically arrive in approximately 6 minutes and can test the air quality.
- Call CHA Emergency Maintenance after you have called 911.
- Leave the apartment.
- Call 911 and report the alarm. Emergency responders will typically arrive in approximately 6 minutes and can test the air quality.
- Call CHA Emergency Maintenance after you have called 911.
- No water
- No electricity
- Locked out of apartment (an emergency lockout charge will apply)
- No heat in below-freezing weather
- Inoperable refrigerator
- Inoperable stove
- Clogged toilet in one-bathroom apartments
Non-emergencies
Some Air conditioning issues are NOT considered an emergency. All residents have window and door screens. Resident should:
- Open windows.
- Secure window screens.
- Air conditioning concerns will be addressed the next business day
Beeping smoke detectors are NOT considered an emergency.
- Smoke detectors are hardwired; they will use the power source as a backup in the event the battery dies
- CHA will change out batteries the next day.
Reporting a false emergency will result in charges.
